Summer lifestyle events in Dallas — is the scene dead when it's 105 degrees?
We moved to Dallas last year and by July everyone seemed to disappear. Is the lifestyle scene seasonal here? Do people just hunker down in AC? Are there good summer-specific events?
Best Answer
The Dallas scene definitely doesn't die in summer — it just moves indoors and to pools. The clubs (Colette, Eden, Velvet Curtain) are all fully air-conditioned and actually get busier in summer because people want to go out in the evening when it finally cools down a bit. The real summer gold is private pool parties. A ton of couples in the suburbs have pools, and the house party scene picks up dramatically from May through September. Some of the best nights we've had have been summer pool parties in Frisco and Southlake. Also, the big hotel takeover events tend to cluster in spring and fall, so there's a slight dip in large-scale events, but the weekly club scene stays strong.

Summer is actually our favorite time for the lifestyle in DFW. The pool party invites start rolling in around Memorial Day and don't stop until October. Nothing beats floating in a pool with 20 other fun couples on a Saturday night. The trick is staying hydrated — seriously, the heat is no joke even at night.
